Our Tesselations

For the last week, our class has been studying patterns and tessellation. After learning how different shapes can tessellate we went and made our own. Once we had done our draft, we transferred it onto an a3 piece of card. After transferring, we added patterns, colours and facial expressions. Here is mine.

Hiwi the kiwi writing

So, as you probably already know, a week or so ago, Hiwi the kiwi came to our school to teach us about boat safety. Now if you have been onto hiwi's website, he has a writing competition, and Mrs Cameron insisted on us putting in an entry. Anyway, enough delay, here is my entry.

On the stage was a kiwi,
He said that his name was Hiwi,
And Hiwi told us to keep fish in salt ice,
To make sure they don't rot cos it doesn't taste nice,
And Hiwi said in his booming large voice,
Not to take huge or small fish it's a bad choice,
He told us the importance of a life jacket,
And how we should always remember to pack it,
He said on a boat, you must always take care,
And wherever you are, take a flare,
Now I know this last one doesn't rhyme,
But please take the time,
To make sure you don't take far too much.

My ecosystems

For the last two or so weeks our class has been researching about ecosystems for our science this term. Unlike everyone else, I had to make two of these environments in a bottle. This was because my first attempt. It went horribly wrong. Where to start, first I put way to much water into the bottle, then dropped it into the sink and then, right when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it fell off the table. Boo hoo. Luckily for me, Mrs Cameron had a few spare bottles and had managed to save some of the other things vital for my ecosystem. After spending fifteen minutes of time putting it together, it was complete. Below are the pictures of my two ecosystems.

Optimist Yachting Checklist

In the next two weeks, our class will be heading out to Pandora Pond for some optimist yachting. Not only does it mean that we are getting half a day off... YAY!!! It also means that we had to learn about being safe and setting up the small yachts. With this in mind, Mrs Cameron set out to find us a writing task relating to the subject of optimist yachts. She decided that we would make simple instructions on how to be safe around them. Below is my writing.

Thank you for reading is.

My Family Tree

This week we are working on algebra. Mr Kinsey suggested that we might want to make a family tree. I learnt that there is more than one way to display your family tree. It was lots of fun. Here is my family tree.

Henry Bergh

A few weeks ago we were looking at history. We had to create a project about a historical person, event or famous invention. I decided to research about the founder of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty towards Animals, Henry Bergh. We had the choice on how we presented. Some of them were Google Docs/Presentation, Prezi and posters. I chose a science board to present my information on.
This is what it looked like.
